GWR Oval Season
Great Western Railway. Towards the end of World War I the government bought a site near Slough to receive repatriated army motor vehicles and repair them for return to the front. Construction was still under way when the armistice was announced but work was carried on so that vehicles could be prepared for commercial resale. It was unsuccessful and the site was sold to the Slough Trading Co Ltd in 1920. It is assumed that this oval season ticket was destined for use by one of the workmen, although why it did not cover travel to Slough itself is something of a mystery.
