This lot sold for £95 to bidder number 964.
LNWR Pass 1853
London & North Western Railway (Manchester & Birmingham Section). This free pass is a remarkable survivor. Many of the early railways tried to promote house building along their lines with the incentive of free travel for the owner for a given term. Here, a Mr Henry Whitelegge 'having erected a dwelling house of the annual value of at least fifty pounds within one Mile from the Alderley Station' is entitled to return travel free of charge for twenty-one years between Alderley and Manchester.
